Field to vase morning - September 19 2026
Date:
Time: 10:30 - 13:30
Location: Outbloom flower farm, Betws Bledrws
Come visit the beautiful Outbloom flower farm in the Welsh hills.
You'll get to enjoy a tour of the field and polytunnels where we walk you through how we grow and answer any questions along the way.
After the tour you'll get to pick a bucket of your favourite flowers, learning the best stage to cut each flower so they last their best in the vase.
Finally we'll bring our flowery haul back to the workshop and learn how to arrange them beautifully in your favourite vase.
September is when autumn is in full swing. We'll be spoilt for choice with rich autumnal colours of Rudbeckia, aster, zinnia and strawflowers. This is our favourite time of year for textures from the grasses and seed heads as well.
The field tour and pick-your-own section will be led by John, the farmer-florist behind Outbloom Flower Farm. The floristry demo and arranging session will be led by Alex, the brilliant florist who runs Siop Botanica.
All the details about the day:
Farm Tour
Explore where and how we grow our flowers and get a glimpse of the farm’s daily operations. You'll see how we grow keeping nature in mind and how we are working towards a fully regenerative farm.
Pick your own
You’ll have the chance to cut a selection of your own flowers straight from the field. You'll learn at what stage to cut each flower to get the most life in the vase.
Arranging & Conditioning
Learn how to condition your flowers to make them last as long as possible. Then learn some techniques for arranging them into stunning displays.
Refreshments
After coming back up from the field, we'll take a break and refuel with a hot or cool drink and a slice of home-made cake
Bad weather?
In case of rain, we’ll still do the tour -- it is Wales after all! So make sure to bring wellies and waterproofs if it's looking wet. We will always be able to cut from the polytunnel. However, if it's very soggy we might pre-cut a selection of outdoor flowers for you to work with so they are dry.
Accessibility
We will do our very best to accommodate folks with accessibility needs. However, we are a working farm on a relatively steep hill so you'll need a reasonable level of mobility to enjoy the day. If you have questions or concerns please get in touch before booking.
