The day will involve:

• A short introduction to natural dyes and a tour of Outbloom with John and Maeve that focuses on the wild and cultivated dye plants that lay within.
• Picking your own fresh dye materials to use in your bundles (alongside other dried material)
• A demonstration of the bundle dyeing process and dyeing your own bundles! Each person will have 100g of pre-treated wool to play with across 3-4 bundles.
• Tea, cold drinks and cake! Please bring your own lunch

You will learn:

• A brief history of natural dyeing and its techniques
• How to select appropriate fabrics and dyestuffs for natural dyeing
• How to mordant (pre-treat) fibres to ensure lightfastness and influence colour
• How to prepare, tie and steam dye bundles
• How to care for naturally-dyed fibres

Cost of £85 per person includes all materials and preparation.
